Walt Disney World has its own private airport with a runway that can play an iconic Disney song

Walt Disney World is filled with magic and there are plenty of hidden treasures to be found - but did you know the theme park has its own airport?
Located east of the Magic Kingdom, right by the parking lot, Lake Buena Vista Airport (also known as Lake Buena Vista STOLport) is so small it doesn't have a hangar, just a short runway and a small building.
But in true Disney form, the airport has a magical twist; the runway boasts grooves which, when planes reached speeds of over 45mph, would play Pinocchio's 'When You Wish Upon A Star'.
Unfortunately if you're hoping to book flights, you're going to be disappointed - the airport hasn't run flights since the 1980s, while the grooves were reportedly removed in 2008.
Nowadays, it's disused and looks a bit more like a parking lot. (Not quite as magical).
Still, for those with a curious nature, there are ways to spot the runway. For example, some Disney fans have reportedly caught a glimpse of the airport from World Drive, or if you keep your eyes peeled you can see it from the parks' monorail.
It was actually because of the monorail that Disney ultimately decided to end its air travel services to Lake Buena Vista Airport, as its close proximity to the monorail raised safety issues.
Nowadays, the area is actually a 'no fly zone' - so even smaller planes won't be able to access the private airport.
Of course there are plenty of other convenient airports a stone's throw away from Orlando International Airport.
For example, Orlando International Airport tends to be a hit with holidaymakers thanks to the shuttle services that run from the terminals to the Disney parks.
And nowadays there is a wide array of ways to find cheap flights and holidays to Orlando , not to mention there are plenty of Walt Disney World deals and discounts to be found.
